A rare Superman Action Comics which was said to be the first issue of Action Comics featuring Superman was sold in an online auction for over $2 million. It was said to be the first highest price ever paid for a comic book, BBC reported on December 1, 2011.

“What makes this copy so special… is it’s the highest graded copy known to exist — it’s a 9.0 on a scale of one to 10,” said Vincent Zurzolo of ComicConnect in a report.

The first issue of Superman Action Comics was auctioned online at Comicconnect.com last November 11, 2011 with a starting bid of $1, but there was a reservation price of $900,000, according to reports.

The seller of the Action Comics was not disclosed, but it was speculated that it was owned by the Face/Off actor Nicolas Cage.
