Sugarland concert stage collapses at Indiana State Fair (Video)

A Sugarland concert in Indiana on Saturday, August 13, 2011 ended abruptly after the stage collapsed before the music duo went up the stage, as shown in the video below.

As noted at US news sites, the incident happened on Saturday shortly before 9 p.m. (local time) at the Indiana State Fair, leaving 4 casualties and at least 40 others injured.

According to reports, the winds that night were estimated between between 60 and 70 mph and the stage collapsed around 30 minutes after “Love Song” singer Sara Bareilles finished her opening set.

Sugarland band members were not hurt; who immediately posted on Twitter about what happened, with fellow musicians including Keith Urban, Steel Magnolia, among others, also sent sympathies.

“We are all right. We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you’ll join us. They need your strength.” Sugarland (@Sugarlandmusic) tweeted.

Meanwhile, Indianapolis Department of Public Safety, which immediately rushed to the area, also used Twitter to give the latest updates of the incident.

“Crews still working at the Indiana State Fair. The fair will be closed tomorrow but it is expected to resume on Monday.” Indianapolis Public Safety (@ IndianapolisDPS) tweeted.
