Student Academy Awards 2011: Fifteen Winners Announced at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater

Fifteen students were selected as gold medal winners in the 38th Annual Student Academy Awards at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater, June 11, as reported by various entertainment news sites.
The fifteen students, (12 from the US and 3 from other countries) were recipients of the annual competition conducted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. These young filmmakers’ films are available for free screening to the public.
The Annual Student Academy Awards 2011 gold medal winners are:
- “The Vermeers,” Tal S. Sharmir, The New School, New York (Gold Medal – Alternative
- “Correspondence,” Zach Hyer, Pratt Institute, New York (Gold Medal – Animation)
- “Dragon Boy,” Bernardo Warman and Shaofu Zhang, Academy of Art University, California (Gold Medal – Animation)
- “Defective Detective,” Avner Geller and Stevie Lewis, Ringling College of Art and Design, Florida (Bronze Medal – Animation)
- “Vera Klement: Blunt Edge,” Wonjung Bae, Columbia College Chicago (Gold Medal – Documentary)
- “Imaginary Circumstances,” Anthony Weeks, Stanford University (Silver Medal – Documentary)
- “Sin Pais” (Without Country), Theo Rigby, Stanford University (Bronze Medal – Documentary)
- “Thief,” Julian Higgins, American Film Institute, California (Gold Medal – Narrative)
- “High Maintenance,” Shawn Wines, Columbia University (Silver Medal – Narrative)
- “”Fatakra,” Soham Mehta, University of Texas at Austin (Bronze Medal – Narrative)
- “Tuba Atlantic,” Hallvar Witzo, The Norwegian Film School, Norway (Gold Medal – Foreign Student Film)
- “Bekas,” Karzan Kader, Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts, Sweden (Silver Medal – Foreign Student Film)
- “Raju,” Max Zaehle, Hamburg Media School, Germany (Bronze Medal – Foreign Student Film)
