Storm Tracker: People Advised to Resort to Mobile and Web Applications to Track Hurricane Irene

As Hurricane Irene hits North Carolina with heavy rains and power shortages, people are advised to resort to storm trackers, mobile and web applications to follow its course. This was disclosed by various news sites, August 27, 2011.

Reportedly, there are mobile apps for Android, Apple, and Ipads that could act as storm trackers, showing locations and details of the storm.

Aside from the National Hurricane Center and the Weather Channel, CNN and several sites have installed hurricane trackers that keep people updated with the movement of Hurricane Irene, including its speed and direction. The tools are expected to help people prepare for it.

According to CNN’s hurricane tracker, via satellite, as of 11:00 AM EDT, August 27, 2011, Hurricane Irene is moving 15 mph with gusty winds of 105 mph.
