Steve Jobs biography: Book sold 379,000 copies in the US in first week

The Steve Jobs biography book reportedly sold nearly 380,000 copies in the US in its first week after it was released last October 24, nineteen days after he passed away.

According to a post TheBookSeller.com on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, BookScan US data revealed that the Steve Jobs biography sold 379,000 copies in its first week in US alone.

As noted in the report, the $35 biography book of the late Apple co-founder, which was written by Walter Isaacson and was published by Simon & Schuster, is now the 18th bestselling book of the year in the US.

The 656-page book was said to have outsold the next bestselling book of the week, John Grisham’s ‘The Litigators’ by over three copies to one, as well as Bill O’Reilly’s ‘Killing Lincoln’, which is the second most popular non-fiction book.

Moreover, the Steve Jobs bio book, in which a $16.99 ebook version was also released on the same day at Amazon Kindle and Apple iTunes store, was said to be holding he biggest week sales record for any book released in the US since November 2010.

That time, two books reportedly sold 430,000 copies each in the same time frame. They are George W Bush’s ‘Decision Points’ and Jeff Kinney’s ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth’.
