Steve Ballmer’s Highlights at Microsoft CES 2011 Keynote

Different international tech news site is now reporting about the much anticipated CES 2011 from January 6 to January 9, 2011. Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO, has finished his traditional International CES Keynote address and here are some of reported highlights of his keynote from different tech blogs and news site.

  1. Kinect sold 8 million in 60 days.
  2. Microsoft announced about Avatar Kinect, it is used so Kinect can track facial features of the players. Avatar Kinect will be a free download this spring for Xbox owners who pay for an Xbox Live Gold subscription.
  3. Microsoft demonstrates Kinect-enabled Zune and announced Kinect with Netflix and Hulu.
  4. Windows Phone 7’s ability to extend the Xbox experience through games and also Xbox live access.
  5. More than 5,500 applications are available for Windows Phone 7.
  6. Microsoft said it will update the phone software in the next few months to make it faster and to support copying and pasting.
  7. Windows Phone 7 devices will also become available for Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc. networks.
  8. Microsoft began talking about the next version, which is expected to be called Windows 8 and to launch in 2012.
  9. Microsoft also showed an updated version of Microsoft Surface 2.0, its tabletop touch computer, with new technology that lets thin LCD screens recognize objects placed on top without the use of cameras.

Microsoft believes that windows will always be part of our life. “Whatever device you use, now or in the future, Windows will be there,” Ballmer said.
