A fire broke out at the US State Department headquarters in Washington District of Columbia at around 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012.
Lon Walls, a spokesman for Washington‘s fire department, said four construction workers were injured by the flash fire that reportedly started in a ductwork at the 8th floor.
Reports by CNN said that workers inside the building were able to put out the fire even before the firefighters arrived in the area. However, an individual suffered a life-threatening injuries while three others suffered minor injuries. All injured workers were admitted at the Washington Hospital Center.
Walls clarified that there were only a few federal employees in the building when the fire broke out because of the holiday weekend that started on Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day.
