According to a press release by Starbucks on Monday, January 30, 2012, Starbucks coffee stores will be developed in various cities across India, which will be owned by the two companies.

As noted in the report, these Starbucks retail stores will be branded as Starbucks Coffee “A Tata Alliance” and will start in Delhi and Mumbai this year, with Tata Coffee Limited to be its coffee supplier.

“We look forward to bringing the Starbucks Experience to customers in India by offering high quality arabica coffee, handcrafted beverages, locally relevant food, and legendary service.” Starbucks China and Asia Pacific president John Culver was quoted on the report.

“We’re very pleased to have found the best partner for Starbucks in Tata — a company that shares so many of the same values for conducting business in a way that earns the trust and respect of our customers and partners (employees).” Culver added.

Apparently, the Tata Starbucks Limited joint venture will be the first time for a first foreign retailer to enter India, with Tata Coffee being a subsidiary of Tata Global Beverages.
