St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2011 in Jersey City Attended By Thousands In Emerald Attire

The parade of the 49th annual celebration of St. Patrick’s Day was highly attended by a lot of people in emerald clothes who lined up at the Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City on Sunday, March 13, 2011.

The one-mile parade consists of 60 groups was led by 16 police officers on motorbikes from the Lincoln Park to The Landmark Loews Jersey City Theater. The merry march group were consists of pipe and drum bands, Irish heritage organizations, union members, and students.

The Jersey City police officers and firefighters joined the parade while walking with their children.

Among the notable personalities who joined the parade include U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, D-West New York Congressmen Albio Sires, D-Fair Lawn Steven Rothman, Mayor Jerramiah Healy and Jersey City council members and state Sen. Sandra B. Cunningham and Assembly members Joan Quigley and Jason O’Donnell.

The 2011 Parade Marshal is Lt. Mike Kelly, 49, a 24-year Jersey City Police Department veteran. Among those who received honors during the event include Irishman of the Year Bob Cavanagh, Jr.; Irishwoman of the Year Mary Paretti; Irish Police Officer Mark Hennessey; Irish Firefighter Capt. Mark Lee; Honorary Irishman of the Year Oren K Dabney, Sr.; Honorary Irishwoman of the Year Rachel Riccio; and Miss Colleen Katelynn Lambert.
