Spartacus: Vengeance’ Season 2’s finale had an expected and shocking ending, as the beautiful Lucy Lawless meets her end as Lucretia. Reviews of the season 2 finale by entertainment sites, March 30, 2012, reflect the reactions of some TV critics.

This American TV series was directed by Steven S. DeKnight. Spartacus was played previously by the late Andy Whitfield, who died of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after Season 1.

Liam McIntyre, an Australian actor, took his place. Other  popular members of the cast are Lucy Lawless, who played Lucretia, wife of Batiatus; Peter Mensah as Oenomaus, the previous trainer of the gladiators; Manu Bennett as Crixus, who was considered the rival of Spartacus in earlier episodes, but who became second in command of Spartacus rebel army; and Viva Bianca as Ilithyia, previous ‘best friend’ of Lucretia, who became a nemesis later.

Lucy Lawless as Lucretia was one of the favorite characters in the series, so when she met her end in Spartacus Season 2’s finale, most viewers were “shocked.” Lucy Lawless reportedly said; however, that she knew her role would end in the series because it was already in the script even before they had started filming Season 2.

Spartacus Season 3 will start production this April 2012.
