Stephanie Gordon of Hoboken, New Jersey, managed to capture pictures of the space shuttle Endeavour during its final launch on Monday, May 16, 2011.

Gordon’s captured images, taken using her iPhone, is now getting worldwide attention, as reported by several international news sites.

According to reports, Gordon was on her flight from La Guardia Airport in New York to Palm Beach International Airport in Florida to visit her parents. She had been sleeping during the flight but woke up in time for Endeavour’s 8:56 a.m. EDT (1256 GMT) takeoff. The pilot of the Delta airline announced that the spectacle would be visible.

Through the plane’s window, Stephanie captured the space shuttle Endeavour, while climbing high into the sky above a low shelf of clouds.

Stephanie, using her Twitter account @Stefmara, tweeted, “My plane flew right past the shuttle!”.

Space shuttle Endeavour will spend about two weeks on the International Space Station, for a dark matter-hunting experiment and a load of spare parts to the orbiting laboratory.
