As shown at NBC that night, Alec Baldwin was introduced by SNL Weekly Update host Seth Meyers as Captain Steve Rogers, a spoof of the American Airlines pilot when he was kicked off the plane.

After the two shook hands, Meyers asked Captain Steve Rogers on his take on earlier reports that Alec Baldwin was kicked off the plane last Wednesday because he was playing Words With Friends using his cellphone.

“It was awful Seth, which is why it was important for me to come here and on behalf of everyone at American Airlines, issue an apology to Mr. Alec Baldwin!” Captain Rogers replied, who was also wearing a fake mustache.

But before he said another word, Meyers asked him in a low voice, “Alec, are you sure this is the right way to handle this?” and the actor said “yes” and the audience laughed.

Later, he asked the actor to get it straight and that if Captain Rogers really wanted to apologize to Alec Baldwin. “Yes, Mr. Baldwin is an American treasure!” The “30 Rock” star replied.

“And I am ashamed at the way he was treated! What harm would it do to let him keep playing his game, not any game have you! But a word game for smart people!” Alec Baldwin added, whose Twitter account was deactivated a day after the incident.

“Don’t phones interfere with the plane’s communication system?” Meyers later asked.

“Oh, you don’t believe that, do you, Seth? Would you really get on an airplane that flies 30,000 feet in the air if you thought a Kindle switch would bring it down? Come on it’s just a cruel joke perpetrated by the airline industry.”

“It was also reported that Alec Baldwin slammed the bathroom door so loudly it could be heard in the cockpit?” Meyers later asked the 53-year old actor, referring to the earlier statement of American Airlines on their official Facebook page.

“Now Seth, Words with Friends can be frustrating,” Captain Rogers explained. “But when you think you’re about to play ‘jailers’ off of somebody’s ‘quiche’ and you realize you don’t have the ‘i’ – let me tell you – that would make you slam the door too!”
