A small plane landed safely at I-295 in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, December 3, 2011 due to engine trouble, as shown in the photo below, and no one was hurt including its passengers.

According to a report by Florida-Times Union on Sunday, Florida Highway Patrol said that the small plane landed in the northbound lanes of I-295 shortly before 10 p.m. (local time).

As noted in the report, the small plane was identified as a single-engine Cirrus SR-20 plane and had a marking of Aerosim Flight Academy with N468DA on its body. On board the plane were a flight instructor and a student pilot who did not talk to the media people who arrived in the said area.

Authorities noted that no was hurt during the emergency landing as the plane successfully avoided the vehicles passing by although its left wing hit a pickup truck but it did not stop.

“They were extremely lucky that no other vehicles were involved and they landed safely and that no one else collided with the aircraft,” Sgt. Dennis Smith of the Florida Highway Patrol told the report.

The small plane was said to be flying from Orlando Sanford International Airport and is supposed to land at Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport when it made the emergency landing.

The troubled plane has been removed by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officers and state troopers and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently doing further investigation on the incident.
