SLTC Starts Collection of New Discounted Toll Rates at SLEX on New Year’s Day 2011

According to an advisory of the South Luzon Tollway Corp. (SLTC), they will start collecting new higher toll rates at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) from Alabang to Sto. Tomas in Batangas, starting 6:00 a.m. on January 1, 2011, New Year’s Day.

The new toll rates being implemented at SLEX is part of the initial toll rate increase, approved by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB). Instead of implementing the whole amount of increase, the SLTC will only be collecting a discounted toll fee from motorist using the SLEX starting January 1 to March 31, 2011.

Toll rates for Class 1 vehicles including cars, jeepneys, pick-ups, and vans will go up to P3.03 per km from the previous 76 centavos. Motorist will now have to pay P86 for the Alabang-Calamba stretch, compared to the previous P22.

For Class 2 vehicles such as Light Trucks, Tourist/School and Public Utility Buses, they will pay P6.06/kilometer from the previous P1.52. Drivers and operators plying the Alabang to Calamba highway will now have to pay P172 compared with the previous P42.86.

Class 3 toll rates for heavy and multi-axled trucks and trailer will now be charged P9.09 per kilometer from the previous P2.28. The Alabang to Calamba stretch will now cost P258 from the previous P64.30 for Class 3 vehicles.

Based on the list of discounted toll fees provided by SLTC to motorists, the stretch from Alabang to Calamba expressway will cost P76, P152 and P228 for Class 1, 2 and 3 vehicles, respectively, starting January 1, 2011. The discount will start to decrease in February at 30 centavos per km and in March at 13 centavos.

All Toll Prices being collected from motorists does not include EVAT.
