Skype offers free Skype WiFi in over 50 US airports during Christmas season

Skype will be offering free Skype WiFi and video in over 50 selected US airports this Christmas season, from December 21 to 27, 2011.

As noted by Skype on its official blog on Friday, December 16, 2011, free Skype WiFi will be available to travelers for one hour on the said dates on selected Skype WiFi hotspot at selected US airports.

“The holidays are all about connecting with those you love. Skype is excited to help you maintain these meaningful connections wherever you may be this holiday season.” A statement reads at Skype‘s official blog.

According to Skype, US travelers will be given a 1-hour free access third-party hotspots using Skype WiFi via Skype video or voice call on PCs, Macs and iOS devices, including the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad.

Nevertheless, the free Skype Wifi is only available via the latest version of Skype for Windows, Skype for Mac, or the Skype Wifi app; and can be activated after signing in using a valid Skype ID.

The names of the specific US airports are available at the Skype interactive map posted at the Skype blog, where users can roll over the “SSkype icon to find the location of free Skype Wifi hotspots.
