Skype 5.2 for Mac now available, with group video calling and group screen sharing

Skype 5.2 for Mac is now available for free and comes in with group video calling and group screen sharing can be performed by Mac users.

As announced by Skype on its official blog on Monday, July 4, 2011, Skype 5.2 for Mac has arrived and Mac users can now share their screen during a group video call.

According to Skype, Mac users can share their screens during group video calls in which before only the latter is available, as Skype 5.1 being released last November.

With screen sharing previously available for free during a one-to-one Skype call, this group screen sharing promises to make better communication and collaboration on group calls.

Meanwhile, Skype 5.2 for Mac also provide multi-tasking during a video call, with the user still being able to see the person he is talking to even if he decides to change to another program.

This feature is also applicable when the user hangs up from the call or mutes the conversation, as being controlled from the call control bar.

In addition, Skype 5.2 for Mac users can now find their most active conversations under “Recents” in the sidebar with a “History” section where the less active ones can easily be seen.

However, Skype noted that to achieve this group video calling and group screen sharing, one or more call participants should be a Skype Premium subscriber.

This Skype Premium subscription costs from $4.49 and $8.99 monthly but anyone can start with a free seven-day trial.
