A rare 1652 sixpence was reportedly auctioned for $430,000 at the Colonial Coin Collectors Club in Baltimore on Black Friday, November 23, 2012.

According to a Newsday report, the $430K silver Colonial Massachusetts coin was reportedly found by an anonymous woman in a potato field in East Hampton, New York.

One of eight known to exist, a metal detector was used to find the rare coin 23 years ago.

Reports say that the auctioned value of the sixpence is about four times the expected price by auction officials.

In 1992, the sixpence was auctioned by Lillian King for the first time with a value of $35,200.
