Sidney Leslie Goodwin is reportedly the two-year-old boy that was included in the list of unknown victims of the ill-fated Titanic as revealed by the DNA tests results by researchers, according to reports by several international sites.

Titanic sank in the Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912 and took the lives of 1,497 of the 2,209 people aboard. A lot of unknown bodies were recovered including a fair-haired, roughly 2-year-old boy.

The 19-month-old Goodwin is from England. Two earlier DNA tests failed to provide the real identity of the boy who was initially declared as a Swedish child.

Ryan Parr, a Lakehead University professor in Ontario, attempted to identify the child by studying a DNA that was taken from the ancient human remains.

The team of researchers led by Parr used the US Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory to study the DNA.

According to Parr, after verifications with Armed Forces Lab, his team now has a “98 percent certainty the identification is correct.”

Sidney Leslie Goodwin is believed to be the relative of Carol Goodwin, a 77-year-old Wisconsin resident.
