Shipwreck divers of Mel Fisher‘s Treasures found a 40-inch gold chain stuck on the seafloor while they were in search of a 17th-century old Spanish ship, according to international news sites.

Reports say that the gold chain, with 55 links, an enameled gold cross, and a two-sided medallion where the Virgin Mary and a chalice was engraved, was initially valued at $250,000. It was discovered 35 miles west of the Florida Keys.

The sunken ship is believed to be from the Nuestra Senora de Atocha, which sank during a 1622 hurricane.

A $450 million set of antiques were also found by the Fisher shipwreck divers in 1985. Those treasures were believed to be part of the Atocha shipwreck.
