Shaquille O’Neal is retiring from the NBA, as Shaq himself have announced via Twitter on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, as shown in the video below.

After playing for 19 NBA seasons, 39-year old Shaquille O’Neal announced that he will retire, in a Tout video he posted on his official Twitter account.

“We did it. Nineteen years baby. I want to thank you very much, that’s why I’m telling you first, I’m about to retire. Love you, talk to you soon.” Shaq said on the video.

“I’m going to miss the competition. I’m going to miss, you know, the chase for the ring. You know, I’m actually going to miss everything,” Shaq was quoted as telling to “ESPN SportsCenter” the same day.

“Father Time has caught up with Shaquille O’Neal.” The 7-feet 1-inch tall NBA star player added, as he also made four rap albums and earned millions of dollars in product endorsements including for Pepsi, Burger King, Taco Bell, among others.

Shaq was first seen playing for Orlando Magic where he won as Rookie of the Year Award in 2003, and also played for LA Lakers, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.

O’Neal, who weighs 325 pounds and the oldest active NBA player, won the MVP award in 2000, has a record of 28,596 points and 13,099 rebounds and wears four rings.
