Severe Weather: National Weather Service Weather Forecast and Flash Flood Warning

Severe weather continue to affect the areas of Staunton, Waynesboro and southeastern Augusta County. A flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) on Thursday, March 10, 2011.

The NWS warning is an upgrade to an earlier flood watch forecast and will be in effect until 5:30 p.m. Severe thunderstorm and flood watch was also issued by NWS throughout the region until 8 p.m.

Affected areas of the severe weather include Highland County through the central Shenandoah Valley and into the Piedmont and Northern Virginia.

Meanwhile, two television towers and the WGC-Cadillac Championship‘s giant 18th-hole scoreboard was brought down by the storm that ripped through the TPC Blue Monster at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa just minutes before the opening round on Thursday morning.
