As noted at international sports news sites right after the match, Serena Williams won against Aravane Rezai with the score of 6-3, 3-6 and 6-1 and later went into tears.

“It definitely hit me at the end of the match. I’m not a cryer. I just expected to walk off,” Serena Williams told reporters after winning, as she has never lost in the first round in any major match.

“This was probably the most emotional I’ve gotten after a match, after a win. For me it wasn’t about winning the match, it was about being out there.” Serena added.

Last Wednesday, Serena Williams lost on the second round from Vera Zvonareva of Russia at Eastbourne tournament but beat Bulgarain Tsvetana Pironkova in the first round.

Meanwhile, it did not come easy for Serena to win over Rezai, who ranked 61st in the world, since the second set went for the French tennis player.

Apparently, Serena Williams did not play for almost a year due to foot injury and later her spokesman announced that she was suffering from hematoma and pulmonary embolism.

Later, Serena will face 19-year old Simona Halep of Romania for the first time, who earlier won against Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia, 6-2 6-1.
