As noted at international sports news sites that day, Serena Williams beat Simona Halep on their first ever tennis match, 3-6 6-2 6-1 and will move to the third round.

Apparently, Serena lost in the first set but managed to recover and won the remaining two sets against the 19-year old Romanian tennis player, who ranked ranked 57 in the world.

Serena, 29, won the first round against Aravane Rezai of France on Tuesday and cried after winning with almost a year of not playing tennis due to foot injury.

Meanwhile Richard, Serena Williams‘ father was quoted at Guardian saying that “he felt Serena was playing at around 49% to 50% of her best, adding that he thanked God that she is alive.

“She still has all that power, but she’s just not using it at the right time.” Richard Williams reportedly said, as her daughter was seen committing a lot of mistakes than what she is not expected to do.

For the third round, Serena Williams is being expected to play against Maria Kirilenko of Russia or Thailand‘s Tamarine Tanasugarn.
