Scotty McCreery Receives Platinum Plaque on American Idol Season 11 Results Show, for “Clear as Day” Album

Scotty McCreery, the winner of America Idol Season 10, received the platinum plaque on American Idol Season 11 Top 9 results show, for his “Clear as Day” album, as reported by entertainment news, March 29, 2012.

McCreery guested on the AI Season 11, together with Nicki Minaj, where he sang ”Water Tower Town.” The song was apparently about Garner, North Carolina, where he lives.

McCreery’s “Clear as Day” debut album, where the song ”Water Tower Town” was included, sold more than 197, 000 copies during its first week and is a certified platinum in the U.S. He also made history as the first country singer with an album at No. 1 on Billboard 200.

Further reports revealed that he won Artist of the Year: New Artist for 2011 at the American Country Awards, and is nominated to the Best Artist category in the Academy of Country Music Awards 2012.

Jimmy Iovine awarded the platinum plaque to Scotty McCreery on the American Idol results show.

Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj performed “Starships” her latest single to the delight of her fans. Earlier in the week, Lauren Alaina, the runner-up in AI Season 10 also guested in the show.

The “Clear as Day” album also includes two top songs of McCreery, “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble with Girls.”
