As announced by “Idol” show host Ryan Seacrest, Scotty McCreery won the “American Idol’ 2011 title” with a record of a total of 22.4 million votes cast, the show’s highest votes ever.

“It’s been a year now since Lauren and I tried out,” McCreery told the audience after he was called as the American Idol Season 10 winner. “I gotta thank the Lord first, He got me here.”

McCreery, 17, from North Carolina, was said to be also a favorite of show’s judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson, who earlier predicted that Lauren will win.

However, he changed his prediction and announced on Ryan Seacrest‘s radio show on Wednesday morning that McCreery will win.

On the other hand, Lauren Alaina, 16, sang Katrina Elam’s “Flat on the Floor”, Pam Tillis’ “Maybe it was Memphis” and her first single “Like my Mother Does”, originally sung by Kristy Lee Cook.

Apparently, the American Idol 2011 grand finale showed the performances of Lady Gaga, who sang her new single “The Edge of Glory”, as well as U2’s Bono and The Edge.

In addition, previously eliminated Idol finalists including Haley Reinhart, Jacob Lusk, and Casey Abrams performed with top singers, and Steven Tyler rendered an Aerosmith classic “Dream on”.
