A single-engine Cirrus SR22 plane crashed near Scottsdale airport in Phoenix, Arizona before 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2011, according to reports by several international news sites.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that the plane was on its way to Scottsdale from Show Low, Arizona when the incident happened. The Cirrus SR22, owned by Pinetop, Arizona company, was built in 2005.

Reports say that the small plane exploded and killed the pilot trapped inside. The lone passenger of the plane were seriously injured. Luckily, no house in the residential area was hit by the plane and no one on the ground was hurt.

The name of the 62-year-old pilot and its 60-year-old passenger was withheld by authorities.
