The Scottish cow, a Belgian Blue bullock, was rescued by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) after it got its head trapped in a ladder in a field near Troon, Ayrshire, according to reports by several international news sites on Wednesday, August 17, 2011.

SPCA authorities were able to remove the ladder from the head of the cow unharmed and let it return to its herd.

The unusual incident happened in July in the area of Troon to Barassie road.

According to Inspector Kerry Kirkpatrick, “The farmer had no idea how the ladder ended up in his field as he only recently took on the lease for the land. It may have been used to patch up a hole in the fence or it could have fallen off a passing van or lorry. Either way, it’s a rescue I won’t forget in a while.”
