According to international news sites that day, Saudi royal court confirmed the loss of Prince Sultan, who died of an undisclosed cause and flown to the US last June due to health issues.

Al-Saud, in his late 80s, who served as defense minister and minister of aviation, was one of the top figures in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and is being considered to be the heir of King Abdullah.

“With deep sorrow and sadness … King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz mourns the death of his brother and his Crown Prince Sultan who died at dawn this morning Saturday outside the kingdom following an illness,” the Saudi state press agency (SPA) was quoted in a statement.

As noted in reports, Prince Sultan, who was diagnosed of colon cancer in 2004, will be buried on Tuesday, October 25 but no other details were revealed.

Based on history, Sultan’s official birthday is January 5, 1928, but some Western analysts believe that he was actually born in 1924. He is the 15th son of King Abdul-Aziz, who is also referred as Ibn Saud.
