Saudi Arabia Unblocks Facebook after hours of ban

Riyadh Saudi Arabia –  Saudi Arabia’s communications authority unblocked Facebook on Saturday, November 13, 2010, after blocking access to some parts of the popular social media site for a few hours as reported earlier.

International reports say that an official of Saudi Arabia Communications and Information Technology Commission, who chose to be anonymous, said that the government blocked the site because the content “crossed a line” with the country’s conservative values.

It is still unclear about the real reason why the site has been blocked temporarily. Tech blogger in Saudi Arabia noted that the redirected URL showed that Facebook has been tagged as a pornographic site.

For whatever reason, the important thing is that Facebook users in Saudi Arabia could now enjoy using the said social media site.
