A California Santa Claus was fired from his job for telling ‘naughty’ jokes, as published in different US news sites on Wednesday. A news video uploaded at YouTube is available below.

John Toomey, who was reported to have been known to be playing as Santa Claus at the Union Square Macy’s in San Francisco for 20 years, lost his job after telling ‘naughty’ jokes to customers during the start of this year’s holiday season.

Apparently, the 68-year old retired caretaker-turned-Santa Claus was fired from his job after an elderly couple filed a complaint against him for telling ‘inappropriate’ jokes.

“When I ask the older people who sit on my lap if they have been good and they say, “Yes,” I say, “Gee, that’s too bad”,” John Toomey, sharing one of his apparent ‘naughty’ jokes to the news.

Another joke that was considered as inappropriate was, “Why is Santa so jolly”? – “because I know where all the naughty boys and girls live”, Toomey added, while he insist that he don’t share these kind of jokes when kids are around.

Reports say that a lot of Santa Claus’ regular clients are not happy with the company’s decision to fire Toomey, who says that he has been cracking those kind of jokes for years and it’s the first time someone got offended.

Meanwhile, news said that John Toomey found a new job at Lefty O’Doul’s Restaurant & Lounge located at Geary Street, San Francisco.

The former Macy’s Santa Claus was hired by Nick Bouvis, owner of Lefty, while Toomey’s new job is to help in the collection of around 10,000 toys until Christmas Day for the San Francisco Fire Department.

Meanwhile, Macy’s did not release a comment on the issue as of this writing.
