Samsung to Launch Galaxy S Plus Smartphone with 1.4GHz CPU and Android Gingerbread to Russian Market

Samsung will launch the Samsung Galaxy S Plus smartphone sporting a 1.4GHz processor in the Russian market this May 2011. According to several news sites, the new smartphone will be marketed as the Galaxy S 2011 edition in Russia and it will be made available to other countries as the Galaxy S Plus.

The new smartphone brags a 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor developed by Qualcomm, a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, and is running on Gingerbread, Android Operating System Version 2.3.

According to GSMarena.com, the chipset used for the Samsung I9001 Galaxy S Plus is the Qualcomm MSM8255T and is the first mobile single-core CPU solution to reach 1.4GHz. The MSM8255Tchipset also consumes the same minimal power as current 1GHz CPUs but it comes with an older Adreno 205 Graphical Processor Unit.

The smartphone is reportedly to cost 21,990 rubles (around US $781) and will be available in Russia starting next month.
