Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone unveiled in London, features include voice command and face recognition

Samsung Electronics on Thursday, May 3, 2012 unveiled its Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone in a press event in London, with its features include supporting 4G wireless networks as well as voice command and face recognition.

As noted by Samsung on its official press site that day, Samsung Galaxy S III is designed for humans and inspired by nature, with the smartphone having the ability to recognize human voice, understands the user’s intention, and lets him share a moment instantly and easily.

As reported last month, Samsung invited selected media outlets to attend the 2012 Samsung Mobile Unpacked event, with the statement “Come And Meet The Next Galaxy” written on the invitation, along with two teaser videos and the announcement of TheNextGalaxy.com website.

“With the Galaxy S III, Samsung has maximized the consumer benefits by integrating superior hardware with enhanced smartphone usability,” JK Shin, President and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung, was quoted at SamsungMobilePress.com; who also led the press event in London.

As revealed in the event, the Samsung Galaxy S III is powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and features a 4.8-inches touchscreen with an HD Super Amoled display at 1280 x 720 pixels, along with the 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.

For the memory storage capacity, this latest Samsung smartphone has a 1.4 Ghz quad-core chip based on the ARM Cortex A9, and internal memory 16GB that can be expanded with a 32 GB microSD card, with a 64GB card to be available soon.

Nevertheless, among the special added features include ‘S Voice‘, a natural language user interface that allows voice control in which the user can use a voice command for information search, to play a song, send text messages and emails, among others.

In addition, Samsung Galaxy S III has a ‘Smart stay’ feature, wherein the smartphone can recognize the face motion of the user while he is reading an e-book or browsing the web, by adjusting the screen brightness screen will go black when a user’s eyes are closed.

According to Samsung, Galaxy S III smartphone will make its debut in Europe this coming May 29 and will be available globally including US this summer but did not mention the exact date. The price was not also mentioned, but earlier rumors said Amazon.de will sell it for 599.00 EUR (around $787).
