Roy Williams Fails, Former Team Kansas Joins NCAA Final Four

Roy Williams and his North Carolina (NC) Tar Heels failed to make it into the Final Four of the 2012 NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament. Bill Self‘s Kansas Jayhawks won over North Carolina, 80-67, on Sunday, March 25, 2011, according to a report at NCAA.com. (Watch Kansas vs UNC video recap)

Tyshawn Taylor led the Jayhawks offense with 22 points. After the game, Taylor said that “This is what you come to Kansas for.” He added that “It’s a great feeling, but it’s just one step.”

Five Jayhawks players scored in double figures. Thomas Robinson scored 18 points and nine rebounds while Elijah Johnson added 10 points for Kansas.

Tar Heels was led by James Michael McAdoo who scored 15 points.

Poor shooting by North Carolina in the second half, were they only hit 7 of 31 shots, cost them the game.

It will be the first Final Four appearance for the Jayhawks since it captured the 2008 national championship.

After winning the Midwest Regional final, Kansas will next play against Ohio State on Saturday, March 31.
