According to US news sites on Thursday, May 19, Rosie Perez filed a lawsuit against NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU” producers Northern Entertainment Productions and DDF Films.

Apparently, Rosie Perez made a guest appearance on the show on September 2009 in an episode entitled “Hardwired“, where she had a neck injury that forced her to use a wheelchair later.

“The thing to do was taking someone who knows what he’s doing to make it look violent without being violent,” Perez’s lawyer Brian O’Dwyer was quoted at NY Daily News.

“This person was not a stuntman, he was just an extra.” O’Dwyer added, who filed the case on Wednesday at Brooklyn Supreme Court, noting that the actor might have been carried away during the take.

According to the claim, Perez played a role of a troubled mother and there was a scene where an actor playing as a school-crossing guard pulled her away, where the actress says she got injured.

Nevertheless, the Academy Award-nominated actress said she still finished the shoot despite the pain, who later attended an event at the White House in a wheelchair and wearing a neck brace.

As told by her lawyer, the 46-year old actress underwent two operations including a spinal fusion, and her work was greatly affected for nearly a year and lost a lot of offers since then.

O’Dwyer also noted that “Perez is still suffering from severe pain, numbness of the arms, and will never be the same despite the surgery”.
