Rory McIlroy sunstroke update: World Number One ignores sunstroke, tops leaderboardBy Alex Jusi Madlangbayan on Nov 24, 2012 in Golf, Sports •
Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland reportedly ignored sunstroke and went on top of the leaderboard at the end of the second round in the DP World Tour Championship in Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai on Friday, November 23, 2012.
First round leader Luke Donald and second round playing partner Marc Warren ended up tied with McIlroy at the Greg Norman-designed Earth course on Friday.
McIlroy scored a five-under 67 for the day for a two-round 11-under 133. The world number one only hit a single bogey on the fourth hole.
Donald had a par for the day while Warren had a one-under par 67 to create a three-way tie.
Warren will be playing with McIlroy in Saturday’s third round.
Below is McIlroy‘s explanation about his sunstroke experience.
I didn’t feel great last night but was much better this morning and felt almost 100 percent out there on the course. I had a bit of a sore head last night. I guess it’s just us Irish and the skin not used to this sort of sun. Caroline squeezed about five lemons into a glass and I took that. Then I had some vitamins and a mineral drink – it made me feel a little better. With the anti-doping (checks in golf) you can’t really take too much.
