Roof collapses in Lynn parking garage, 2 people trapped inside car and rescued

A roof of a parking garage in Lynn, Massachusetts collapsed at about 6 a.m. (US time) on Thursday, and 2 people were reported to have been trapped inside a car, but there were others still trapped inside the building, according to US news sites.

The roof collapsed partially which was believed to be due to heavy snow, and fell around the car and not on top of it, in which the building is located inside the Clock Tower Business Center at 330 The Lynnway in Lynn.

Lynn Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy told the news that the city’s firefighters and equipment were dispatched to the scene; and the trapped individuals are safe inside and in contact with rescuers outside through cell phones.

According to latest reports, the two people who were trapped inside the car have been rescued two hours after the roof collapsed, and brought to the hospital, who suffered only minor injuries. Some of the people inside were said to have escaped immediately.

The two individuals were reported to be working at Greater Lynn Senior Center, but their names were not revealed.
