As noted at MotherJones.com on Friday, October 5, 2012, Mitt Romney was interviewed by Sean Hannity on Thursday and was asked on how he will respond if his ’47 percent’ statements during the presidential debate with US President Barack Obama last Wednesday, which many believed he won.
“Well, clearly in a campaign with hundreds if not thousands of speeches and questions and answer sessions, now and then you’re going to say something that doesn’t come out right. In this case I said something that’s just completely wrong.” Mitt Romney told Sean Hannity.
“And I absolutely believe however that my life has shown that I care about the 100 percent and that has been demonstrated throughout my life. This whole campaign is about the 100 percent. When I become president it’ll be about helping the 100 percent.” Romney added.
“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what.” Mitt Romney was heard saying on the secret video, when asked on how he thinks he beat President Obama in the presidential election this coming November, with Mother Jones noting that the event took place in Florida last May.
“Alright, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it.” Romney added.
Shortly after the video was revealed, the 65-year old Republican presidential candidate defended his comment, saying, “I am sure I can state it more clearly and effectively than I did in a setting like that…I am talking about a political process of drawing people in my campaign.”
