Roku launches Roku 2 HD, XD and XS Angry Birds Players to TV, smaller but same price

Roku launched three new players on Wednesday, July 20, 2011; the Roku 2 HD, Roku 2 XD and Roku 2 XS, Angry Birds players, with the same price but on a smaller version.

As announced at Roku.com that day, these new Roku 2 players the full version of Angry Birds, Facebook, EPIX, Major League Soccer, AOL HD, and FOXNews.com.

Roku is the best-selling streaming player on the market because of its simplicity, breadth of content and value.” Roku Founder and CEO Anthony Wood said on the press release.

“Now we’re setting the bar even higher with Roku 2 – a more powerful platform with new features including casual gaming,” Wood added, with the new Roku players using only 2 watts of power.

“We’ve worked closely with Rovio to bring the first full version of Angry Birds to the TV – and best of all, we’re including it for free with the top-of-the-line XS model.” Wood explained further.

According to Roku, the Roku 2 players have built-in wireless Bluetooth for connecting a game remote and a MicroSD slot to support additional storage for games.

In addition, the Roku 2 XS features an Ethernet port for a wired Internet connection and a USB port for playing music, videos, and photos.

The suggested retail prices of Roku 2 HD, Roku 2 XD and Roku 2 XS are $59.99, $79.99 and $99.99 respectively, which Roku said will be available at the end of July at Roku’s official website, Amazon, Best Buy, RadioShack and Fry’s Electronics.
