Roger Federer won his fifth Cincinnati title after beating Novak Djokovic in the final of the Western & Southern Open on Sunday, August 19, 2012 in Mason, Ohio.
Reports say that Federer, the world’s top-ranked player, beat second-ranked Djokovic in straight sets, 6-0, 7-6.
The 31-year-old Federer described his record title victory as “unbelievable.” The Swiss tennis star said that “This was probably the best week for me here in Cincinnati. I didn’t lose a set. This is very sweet, no doubt about it.”
Federer will next play in the upcoming 2012 US Open where Djokovic beat him in last year’s semifinals.
Meanwhile, China‘s Li Na won over Germany‘s Angelique Kerber, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1, to claim the women’s title.
