Rescue Efforts Ongoing for Pike River Coal Miners in New Zealand

After the successful rescue of the Chilean miners, here comes another mining incident occurring at the Pike River Coal Mine in New Zealand’s West Coast.  As of November 19, 2010, twenty nine workers are missing as preparations are made to rescue them.

According to international news, David Feickert, the mine safety professional, said in an interview that the cause is still not specifically known and that the rescue and management teams will determine the possible scenario that has transpired.

Meanwhile all sectors involved joined hands to work together as a team in ensuring that all possibilities are explored and monitored. Mayor Tony Kokshoorn expressed his optimism that rescue efforts would succeed eventually.
