As noted at local news on Thursday afternoon, Rep Iggy Arroyo is still alive, contrary to the earlier announcement of lawyer Romulo Macalintal that the lawmaker has passed away.

“It was confirmed to me by former First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo that Rep. Iggy Arroyo passed away in London.” Macalintal, a lawyer for the Arroyo family, told radio DZBB earlier that day.

However, Mr. Mike Arroyo clarified to reports later that his brother Iggy is “clinically dead” and is still on life support, and could be taken out anytime, adding that he will issue a statement at the proper time.

The former first gentleman noted that he earlier learned from a source at his brother’s bedside that Iggy had a cardiac arrest on Wednesday night and passed away.

Iggy Arroyo, 60, is the brother in-law of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who is now under hospital arrest at Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City.

Rep Iggy Arroyo, who has been in London since last year for liver ailment treatment, had a controversy in 2003 after he claimed that he is the owner of the “Jose Pidal” account, allegedly owned by his brother, Mike Arroyo.
