Manila, PhilippinesCongressman Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo Jr., younger brother of former First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, passed away in London, at the age of 60.

As noted at local news on Thursday, January 26, 2012, lawyer Romulo Macalintal confirmed that Rep Iggy Arroyo is dead, who has been in London since last year for liver ailment treatment.

“It was confirmed to me by former First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo that Rep. Iggy Arroyo passed away in London.” Macalintal, a lawyer for the Arroyo family, was quoted telling to radio DZBB.

Iggy Arroyo, a congressman representing the 5th district of Negros Occidental and a brother in-law of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, had a controversy in 2003 after claiming that he owns the “Jose Pidal” account, allegedly owned by his brother, Mike Arroyo.

As of this writing, there is no confirmation from the Arroyo family as to when the remains of Rep. Arroyo be brought back to the country, as well as when and where the body would be buried.
