The Judgement, a quill pen and black ink Rembrandt drawing valued at $250,000, has been taken from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Marina del Rey in California on Saturday, August 13, 2011, according to reports by several international news sites.

Reports on Monday said that the Los Angeles County Police described the heist as a “well thought-out, well-executed theft.” The Rembrandt piece was stolen after a curator was reportedly distracted by one of the guest.

The San Francisco gallery’s The Linearis Institute has placed the Dutch master’s 1655 drawing on exhibit. The drawing is about 11″ by 6″ (28 cm by 15 cm) and was signed on the back by the artist.
