Rajon Rondo played without his headband when the Boston Celtics won against the New York Knicks, 105-101. The Celtics top point guard had a triple double for the night as he scored 10 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and hand off a career hight 24 assists. Paul Pierce top scored for Boston, with 25 points. Amare Stoudemire led the Knicks with 27 points.

Based on an ESPN report, Rondo‘s 24 assists, tied him with Isiah Thomas of the Detroit Pistons for the most number of assists in a triple double in the NBA‘s history. Thomas did the feat in February 7, 1985.

Rondo did not wear his patented headband because the NBA ruled that players are not allowed to wear it with the logo upside-down. NBA spokesman Tim Frank announced the new league rule that prohibits players from wearing the headbands inside-out or upside-down.
