The Japanese government announced the radiation contamination of food products, milk and spinach, within the area of the Fukushima prefecture. This was reported live on Tokyo televisions and in international news sites, March 19, 2011.

This comes amidst the government’s continuing efforts of rescuing earthquake and tsunami victims. The nuclear power plants still poses health and danger risks to Japan as the government and various UN countries help in containing the effects of both natural accidents.

Yukio Edano, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, ensured consumers that the radiation level present in the milk and spinach are not urgently life threatening because drinking the milk for a year is like taking one CT scan from a hospital.
