Queen Elizabeth II turns 85 on Thursday, April 21, 2011, several international news sites reported.

According to reports, Queen Elizabeth will celebrate her birthday at Westminster Abbey by giving out sums of money to 85 deserving people.

Meanwhile, the British Virgin Islands Government issued a collector’s coin to celebrate the queen’s birthday. The coin was said to be struck by the Pobjoy Mint in the United Kingdom and is issued in conjunction with the queen’s actual birthday.

The coin’s obverse shows two conjoined profiles of the queen while the reverse shows a depiction of the queen on horseback, riding side-saddle as she had often done during the Trooping of the Colour ceremony.
