Usatoday.com reported that a pair of dress worn by Princess Diana was sold in an auction in Beverly Hills for a total of $276,000.

Darren Julien, president and CEO of Julien’s Auctions, said that the pair of dress, which has been kept in a climate-controlled storage since her death in August 1997, was auctioned at $144,000 and $132,000, respectively.

The black crepe evening gown that Diana wore during a state visit in 1992 was sold at $144,000 and the second dress, which is silk chiffon and strapless that Diana wore in the Cannes Film Festival in 1987 was sold for $132,000.

According to Julien, Princess Diana had auctioned the two dresses, designed by Catherine Walker, for charity three months before her death.

The owners, WeTV and Wedding Central, decided to auction the dresses at the day of Britain’s Prince wedding.

According to reports, a portion of proceeds will be given to one of Diana’s charities.
