Princess Anne has officially unveiled Northumberlandia, considered as the world’s largest human landform, in north east England on Monday, September 3, 2012.

Reports say that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal reportedly visited the land sculpture of a reclining lady, also known as “The Lady of the North,” in an area donated by Blagdon Estate.

According to Northumberlandia‘s official website, the unique sculpture is part of a 46-acre public park that also features a four mile footpath. The 100 ft. sculpture has 1.5 million tons of rock, clay and soil.

Northumberlandia was reportedly designed and conceptualized in 2004 by Charles Jencks, a well known architect in England.

In 2010, the Banks Group started construction of the three million Euro project as part of Shotton surface coal mine restoration.

Northumberlandia website says that “Far from being a rigid manicured art form Northumberlandia is a living part of the countryside that will mature over time and change with the seasons. What you see when you visit is only the start of something that will evolve through generations.”
