As noted at US news sites on Friday, President Obama belted a short line of “Let’s Stay Together” during the fundraising event in New York City after announcing that the 65-year old soul legend is also there.

“I…I’m so in love with you,” President Obama sings, while standing behind the presidential podium, as the crowd cheered, which was said to be around 1,400 supporters.

“Those guys didn’t think I would do it. Don’t worry Rev, I cannot sing like you, but I just want to show my appreciation.” President Obama said after he sang, joking at the people at the back stage.

Before he sang, the Commander-in-Chief thanked Tony Award-winning composer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, who hosted the event, where vocal artist India Arie and Al Green himself performed.

According to Politico.com, tickets were sold for $200 each for general admission and President Obama, who is running for re-election in the 2012 election, is being expected to raise $3.1 million in his four appearances in Manhattan that day.
