Harry Potter author JK Rowling announced the launch of Pottermore website, as shown in the video below, with Harry Potter ebooks to be available soon.

As noted on British news sites on Thursday, June 23, 2011, JK Rowling had a press conference in London and announced the launch of Pottermore.com which will open this coming October.

“I had more than half of the new material already written or in note form. I literally dug some out of boxes,” JK Rowling told the media on Thursday, noting that she has no plans to write another novel.

Nevertheless, she noted that all the seven Harry Potter novels will be available as ebooks and will be sold starting October, with the price to be announced later.

“I wanted to give something back to the fans that have followed Harry so devotedly over the years, and to bring the stories to a new generation,” JK Rowling said about the Pottermore website.

Pottermore has been designed as a place to share the stories with your friends as you journey through the site.” Rowling added, noting that everyone can submit their drawings, among others.

Pottermore is a free website that builds an exciting online experience around the reading of the Harry Potter books.” A message at Pottermore.com reads,

“Come back on 31st July to find out how you can get the chance to enter Pottermore early.” The message added, which the date happens to be Harry Potter’s birthday.
